TEENAGERS and pensioners have come together to tackle the crimes blighting their community.
An inter-generational event in Whiteinch Community Centre saw 50 young people and 50 elderly residents addressing issues such as drugs and alcohol, gang-fighting and disorder.
Aimed at breaking down barriers between generations, participants took part in various workshops promoting positive relations and understanding.
Speaking of the GNR8 Respect conference, organiser Sergeant Scott Simpson said: "This was an innovative way of trying to address many of the common misunderstandings which often exist due to lack of communication.
"By challenging these misconceptions in an open and friendly environment – we can create a safer community for everyone, regardless of age.
"The GNR8 Respect conference provides an ideal platform for both the young and old to come together to discuss any issues which they face in their communities."
It’' thought older people often wrongly pereceive young people as being troublemakers and one of the aims of the conference was to examine stereotypes like this.
Artist Graham Ogilvy created a series of cartoons depicting the main issues being discussed throughout the day.
